Tā Moko is a specialist practice belonging to the ancestors and caretakers of Maori cultural knowledge. For a long period Tā Moko was endangered; outlawed in 1907 and tentatively revived in the 1980s. Today Tā Moko is enjoying an artistic resurgence amongst Māori.
